As the Epson controls the market more and more strictly, the original Epson DX5 and DX7 printheads are becoming less and less popular on the market. DX5 and DX7 have been discontinued since 2015 or earlier. Therefore, in economical digital printers, these two heads are gradually replaced by TX800/XP600.

The Epson TX800 printhead is a six-color printhead, but the general machine prints 4 colors, which means there will be two channels left, and these channels can be replaced with other colors. An obvious advantage of this type of printhead is that it is relatively cheap. The Epson printhead TX800 facilitates fast printing while maintaining excellent print quality, making it ideal for use in UV printers. However, when utilizing UV technology, it is essential to properly protect glass media prior to printing. If not adequately protected, UV rays can reflect off the glass and cause permanent, irreversible damage to the printhead. However, there is a reason behind this low TX800 printhead price: the printhead channel is narrow, resulting in 30% less ink injection than a larger printhead. When working at high speed, it is easy for ink to break. In addition, when pumping ink, if the channel is too narrow, it is easy to cause ink breakage.
